N.C. A&T holds postseason edge as Aggie-Eagle Classic looms

GREENSBORO — And so N.C. A&T’s football season comes down to one last regular-season game.

Win, and the Aggies go to the postseason.

Lose, and things get messy.

A&T (9-1, 7-0 MEAC) hosts rival N.C. Central (7-3, 6-1) at 1 p.m. Saturday in the annual Aggie-Eagle Classic, a big game under normal circumstances.

But these aren’t normal circumstances, especially with Bethune-Cookman (8-2, 6-1) hosting hapless Florida A&M (1-9, 1-6) later Saturday.

The race for the Celebration Bowl shapes up like this:

  • A&T advances with: 1. A victory over Central; or 2. A loss coupled with a Bethune-Cookman victory.
  • Central advances with: 1. A victory at A&T coupled with a Bethune-Cookman loss.
  • Bethune-Cookman cannot advance, losing each tiebreaker.
