XU Gold Nuggets fall from third to seventh nationally

NEW ORLEANS -- Xavier University of Louisiana dropped from third to seventh Tuesday in the NAIA Women's Tennis Coaches' Top 25 Poll.

The Gold Nuggets (7-5) won 3-of-5 dual matches since the previous poll. One of the losses was 5-4 Feb. 23 to then-No. 7 Brenau, which climbed to fifth.

Xavier fell out of the top three for the first time in nine polls. The Gold Nuggets are in the top 10 for the 19th consecutive time. Four of their losses this season are to NCAA Division I opponents.

Defending NAIA champion Georgia Gwinnett remains unanimous at No. 1.

The Gold Nuggets will play Martin Methodist at noon Friday in the AUM Invitational at Montgomery, Ala.
