Gold Rush's No. 16 final rank is highest in 13 years

NEW ORLEANS -- Xavier University of Louisiana dropped four places to 16th in NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Coaches' Postseason Top 25 poll on Wednesday, but the Gold Rush emerged with its highest ranking in the final poll of a season since 2001.

Xavier tied at its position with Rocky Mountain.

The Gold Rush were 23-9 in 2013-14, won the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference regular-season championship for the third straight year and qualified for the national tournament for the fourth consecutive year.

This is the third straight year that the NAIA's final poll occurred after the national tournament. Xavier was 24th each of the previous two seasons.

The Gold Rush are in the top 25 for the 37th consecutive time -- the longest active streak in the division -- and the 50th time in the last 51 polls.

GCAC Tournament champion Talladega ranked 11th. National champion Vanguard was a unanimous No. 1.
